Navaja Suiza para PDF y Postscript
Como comentaba hace un rato, he presentado un proyecto al Concurso Universitario de Software Libre. Se llama como dice el título, y las siglas que he atinado a ponerle son NASUPP.
La idea del proyecto es elaborar una aplicación para transformar
ficheros pdf o postscript indistintamente.
Las transformaciones están
basadas en las "primitivas" ofrecidas por los paquetes psutils, pdfjam,
poppler-utils y probablemente otros que aún no conozco.
Por lo tanto la aplicación es un frontend gráfico que se
apoya en una serie de comandos que operan directamente con los ficheros
pdf/ps.
El frontend no es un mapeo directo de las operaciones que proporcionan las herramientas de línea de comando. también se podrán realizar operaciones "de alto nivel", que se traducirán a una concatenación de distintas órdenes básicas o primitivas.
La potencia que encierran los comandos de los
paquetes psutils y pdfjam permanece en la sombra dado que son
aplicaciones de línea de comandos. Considero que la esta aplicación será muy
útil para manejar ficheros pdf/ps de manera fácil, sin descender al
nivel de la línea de comandos.
La línea de comandos es inasumible para
personas sin un perfil técnico en el ámbito de la informática, y
engorrosa para quienes aún dominándola se enfrentan a la cantidad de
órdenes de las tools ps/pdf y complejidad de parámetros, unido a la necesidades de concatenación de varios de ellos para resolver casos de uso habituales.
La aplicación será multiplataforma, desarrollada con python y wxwidgets, si no cambio de parecer.
Lo que no es la aplicación: un visor / editor / extractor de ficheros pdf.
